Dr Iwu Utomo and Professor Peter McDonald were invited to provide comments on the draft bill on Gender Equality in Indonesia to the Indonesian People’s Representative Council (DPR) and the Regional Representative Council (DPD).

ADSRI’s Indonesia Gender and Reproductive Health Study was used in drafting the bill. Dr Utomo and Professor McDonald were on the panel of experts which also included Professor Saparinah Sadli, Professor Jimly Assiddiqie, Nuriah Wahid and Professor Musdah Mulia.

Debate on the issues relating to gender equity continues and passing the bill may still be some years away.
